Monday - 27 April 2009

Prepared a letter to Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Negeri Sembilan regarding the submition of contract cocument after corrections.

Study on HEC - RAS (Hydrologic Engineer Centre's River Analysis System.

A brief explaination on HEC - RAS

a) An intergrated system of software 

b)contains four one-dimensional river analysis

1) Steady flow water surface profile computation

2) Unsteady flow simulation

3) Movable boundry sediment transport computation

4) Water quality analysis

Tuesday - 28 April 2009

Study on the example of HEC - RAS downloaded from the web of US Army Corp of Engineers

For the project Rancangan Tebatan Banjir Sungai Linggi, the software HEC - RAS is used to reduce the water level by adjusting the river section

Wednesday - 29 Apri 2009

Attended a meeting with JPS Negeri Sembilan in Wisma Negeri Serembam regarding on the project Rancangan Tebatan Banjir Sungai Linggi

Meeting was attended by Pengarah JPS Negeri Sembilan(En Baharuddin), Contractors, Surveyors and other key personals

A brief explanation on issues discussed in meeting

1) Surveyor stated the current river section from chainage 7.9 to 8.6 is 110km but stated in design is 40 km to 60 km

2) Problem due to the design data taken from the year 2000(not up to date)

3) 70% increase in cost due to the increase in the current bed level

4) River is connected to the Straits of Malacca, so backwash effects.Pengarah suggested to  widen the river instead of deepen the river section

5) Work done by March is 51.99% ahead of schedule 38.69%

6) Proposed slope to be reinforced with gabion or rid-rap

7) Replantation of "Nipah" tree along the river side to provide the eco system to the prawns and fishes

Also, a visit to JBA Weir situated in Kg Kuala Sawah was made. (JBA has changed to Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan, SAiNS)

a) Meet with En Rashidi, an engineer there to discuss on the crest level of the spill way

b) Height of flood estimated to be 24m from datum

c) Contacted En Zainal Abidin (Penguasa Logi Rawatan Air Negeri Sembilan) on the land aquisition to build drain in the compound of the Logi Rawatan Air.

Thursday - 30 April 2009

Calculation on the volume of cut in Package 1 due to the increase stated in the meeting. The calculation has been sent to the contractor and surveyor to be checked and commented on.

Today, the company had their internal auditing in order of the ISO.
